Does E-2 renewal require a new fixed investment amount?

THE DIRECT ANSWER

There is no universal new dollar amount that every renewal requires. Review continued qualification and any ownership, acquisition or operational changes that affect the investment analysis rather than assuming either automatic reinvestment or automatic exemption.

Budget for the actual process

Separate ordinary enterprise spending and any new transaction capital from government visa or extension charges, professional preparation and dependent applications. Current fees depend on the route and services requested. If the business has changed materially, allow for the evidence and procedural work that change creates.

Spending more is not a substitute for explaining performance or continued eligibility. Decide what is being bought before deciding what it costs, because the sequence of decisions drives the fee, not the reverse. The scope of the historical review, whether a substantive change needs its own process, how many dependants are included and which procedure is chosen all precede a meaningful estimate.

Hypothetical example: a roofing systems supply venture asks for a renewal quotation while a share sale to a new co-owner is still being negotiated; any figure given then is priced against facts that have not settled. Wait for the ownership position, then scope the work, then price it. Hold enterprise spending in its own ledger with its own commercial justification, since capital deployed for real business reasons and money spent on a renewal answer different questions and should never be presented as one number.
