Bring the temporary job evidence, professional credentials, current status and admission records, and documents from any immigration process already begun. Include relevant employer correspondence and actual filing or decision dates. Counsel needs a complete chronology to assess how the plans interact.
Keep possibilities clearly labelled
Separate an informal discussion about sponsorship from a signed agreement or government submission. Record which facts have changed since any earlier TN application and what was previously stated. If no long-term process has started, say that; do not create records suggesting otherwise.
A list of aspirations can guide the conversation, but supporting evidence should accurately describe existing facts and the immediate assignment, including its genuine anticipated duration. Dates do the ordering work here, so build the file chronologically rather than by document type. Every record should carry the day it was signed, filed or decided, because the sequence is what shows whether a plan was tentative or concrete at the moment of a particular entry.
Credentials belong in the file before the offer letter is finalised, and the offer letter before any admission evidence is printed. Hypothetical example: a Graphic Designer gathers portfolio material and a credential evaluation only after the employer letter has been issued, and the letter names a specialisation the evaluation does not mention; curing the mismatch means reissuing the letter rather than adding a page to the file.
