What records support inherited E-2 funds?

THE DIRECT ANSWER

Use relevant estate and distribution documents, records of the underlying assets and account evidence showing receipt by the investor. Include restrictions or intermediary arrangements affecting possession and control.

Continue the trail after distribution

If an inherited asset is liquidated, connect ownership and sale records to the net proceeds, then follow the invested portion into the enterprise. Where distribution is incomplete, describe that accurately instead of treating a future entitlement as money already available. Document the business commitment separately; evidence that inheritance was lawful does not establish that capital has been placed at commercial risk.

Documentary changes need to be visible rather than tidy. When a superseded account statement is quietly swapped for a newer one, the trail acquires a gap exactly where continuity matters. Retain the earlier record, add the later one and describe what happened between them, including any transfer, conversion or charge that reduced the sum arriving.

Hypothetical example: An applicant funding a rural equipment leasing business moves inherited proceeds through a second account after a bank closes the first, and the closure letter, a document nobody thought belonged in an immigration file, becomes the item that keeps the chain intact. Where an asset was sold after preparation began, the sale agreement, settlement statement and receipt of proceeds all belong in the file; evidence that the inheritance was lawful still does not show that capital has been irrevocably committed and placed at risk.
