Build a sequence around evidence readiness, project arrangements, petition adjudication, visa availability and the residence stage. No municipality has a separate EB-5 processing timetable, and a project schedule cannot establish a visa date.
Use milestones instead of a promised move
Assign owners to source records, project review and family documentation, then identify what can advance independently. Check current official visa and processing information when making decisions. Preserve flexibility around schools, employment and housing until the family’s actual immigration position supports those commitments.
Track removal-of-conditions obligations after residence begins. Dependencies, not durations, decide how an EB-5 plan actually unfolds. Hypothetical example: An investor funding a new commercial enterprise that licenses treasury software wants to arrive for the start of a school year, so the household works backward from that date and treats every intervening step as compressible.
Some are not. Source-of-funds documentation cannot outrun the institutions holding the records; visa availability is outside anyone’s control; and the removal-of-conditions stage begins only after conditional residence, whatever the family would prefer. Identify which steps can run in parallel — family civil documents, project review, translation work — and which are strictly sequential, then place commitments only after the last blocking step in each chain.
A relocation date chosen before the sequence is mapped is a preference presented as a plan.
