Can an early eligibility review establish my approval date?

THE DIRECT ANSWER

No. It can identify preparation needs and potential issues, but government review and availability remain separate.

Use the review to improve planning

Ask which questions can be resolved now and which depend on later agency action. Build tentative plans around those dependencies, with time to retrieve missing records. Do not turn a favourable initial consultation into a countdown to relocation, or assume an applicant with straightforward finances will necessarily finish first.

An early review improves planning and cannot establish any date, and an adviser who suggests otherwise is describing something they do not control. What a review can do is identify what would need to be resolved, how long each element is likely to take, which steps depend on third parties, and where the genuine uncertainties lie. That is enough to plan around: it tells a household what to start now, what can wait, and what might make the whole idea impractical.

Use it that way. Treat any projected approval or completion date as an estimate at best, and make no irreversible personal decision — a resignation, a property sale, a school withdrawal — against a timeline produced before the case has begun. Where a household must give someone a date, give the dependency rather than the date: say what has to happen first and who controls it, which is both more accurate and more useful to whoever is planning around you.
