What documents help explain a degree-to-duties mismatch?

THE DIRECT ANSWER

Start with the awarded credential, academic transcript and a detailed employer description of the actual duties. Relevant course descriptions may help explain unfamiliar program names. Any evaluator should receive the real academic record and the specific question requiring analysis, rather than instructions to produce a favorable conclusion.

Build a traceable explanation

A working comparison can connect a task, the knowledge it requires and the supporting academic material. Label that comparison as your preparation aid; it is not an official form or a substitute for underlying documents. Keep the scope narrow enough to verify.

For example, a transcript may establish completed coursework but not establish that a professional licence is current. Where a record cannot answer the question, identify what additional evidence or advice is needed rather than overstating it. Work outward from the two documents that anchor everything else: the transcript, which shows what was studied, and the duty description, which shows what will be done.

Everything else exists to connect them. A course-by-course transcript is generally more useful than a diploma, since a diploma states only the award. Where a programme has been renamed or an institution has merged, obtain a letter from the registrar confirming the continuity rather than leaving a reviewer to infer it.

Keep any professional body membership, licence or continuing-education record separate and clearly labelled, because these speak to standing in a field rather than to the academic requirement. Order the records early: transcripts from an institution abroad, and any certified translation they require, are frequently the slowest item in the file.
