How should I compare an old price with current Gold Card charges?

THE DIRECT ANSWER

Separate the proposed gift, processing fees, additional government charges and adviser services. A single total makes it difficult to identify what changed.

Do not update only the headline

The live FAQ distinguishes individual, corporate and family payments. Reconcile the entire quote, including assumptions about participants and excluded work. Ask which charges are nonrefundable and when each becomes due.

Do not send a balancing payment merely because a revised sales document requests it. Build the comparison as a table with a row for every amount and a column recording its source and date. Distinguish the government payment, official processing and government charges, and the adviser’s own fees; then note for each whether it is fixed or estimated, when it becomes due, and whether it is refundable.

A single headline figure conceals exactly the information needed to decide. Ask what is excluded — translations, civil document retrieval, travel, medical requirements and any local charges are commonly outside a quoted package. Where a proposal has been revised, keep both versions and ask which specific terms changed and why, rather than accepting a new total.

Confirm the current official amounts from the programme’s own published materials before transferring anything, and be wary of pressure to pay quickly to secure a rate or a place.
