Development spending is separate from government immigration fees. It may help explain the business context, but neither a large development budget nor the product’s commercial value establishes the employee’s specialised knowledge.
Budget for the transfer itself
Identify evidence-preparation work, professional review, current filing charges, applicable supplements, optional premium processing and family costs. Keep implementation travel and customer-delivery expenses separate so the employer can see the complete project cost. If an outside technical explanation is proposed, ask what factual gap it will address rather than assuming expensive product documentation is required.
Budget for rework, because that is where these matters overrun rather than in the original quote. Evidence prepared around the product has to be rebuilt around the person; an outside explanation is commissioned to fill a gap a properly attributed internal record would have closed; a faster processing option is added late to recover time lost to the first attempt. Hypothetical example: a physiotherapy clinic franchise budgets for a filing and a translation, then spends more on reconstructing who trained whom on its rehabilitation protocol than on everything else combined.
Before authorising an outside report, ask which factual gap it addresses and whether an internal record could close that gap instead. Confirm current government fees for the specific form and any applicable supplement rather than reusing a figure from an earlier matter.
