Prepare a concise identity and immigration history, a household list and an outline of the proposed funding. These are consultation materials, not a complete government filing checklist.
Follow the eventual agency request
The official programme describes a USCIS I-140G submission with supporting documents after the initial application and settled fee. Obtain the current instructions before compiling a final packet. Keep official correspondence and original records available, and agree on a secure method for sharing sensitive evidence.
Records must satisfy the agency reading them, which is a higher bar than satisfying the person collecting them. Hypothetical example: An applicant who runs a corporate translation services business assumes their own staff can certify translations of civil documents for the file. The safer approach is to follow the receiving agency’s stated requirements for translated documents, since what matters is what the instruction actually asks for rather than what seems professionally adequate.
The same discipline applies elsewhere: a certificate should show the issuing authority, the date and the fact being proved on its face; a copy should be legible in full, including stamps and reverse sides; and a document in a former name needs whatever record connects the two names. Build an index listing each document, its source, its date and the requirement it answers, and mark the items still outstanding rather than leaving the gap to be noticed later.
