Which documents help explain a defined project in a TN application?

THE DIRECT ANSWER

Use the employer’s description of the professional activities and intended period, supported where appropriate by relevant project or contract information. Make clear which entity employs you and what work has actually been arranged. Citizenship and the category’s qualification evidence remain necessary alongside the project explanation.

Reconcile scope across the documents

Check that the contract, offer and support letter describe compatible activities and dates. If a client document uses shorthand that could suggest a different occupation, ask the employer to explain it accurately rather than silently changing the wording. A milestone summary may help organize the assignment, but it is a suggested aid, not a universal filing requirement.

Include only material needed to understand the proposed work, with the employer’s appropriate handling of confidential information. A future sales opportunity should not be presented as a confirmed placement. Reconcile the scope across every document that describes it, since project work generates several overlapping accounts and they frequently disagree.

The client contract, the subcontract, the statement of work, the project schedule, the internal resourcing plan and the offer or assignment letter may each define the work slightly differently, and the differences are usually the product of drafting at different times rather than of disagreement. Identify which document governs and note where the others diverge. Then check that the description given to the individual matches the one the company is operating to.

Where a schedule shows the person's involvement extending well beyond the date stated elsewhere, resolve which is accurate before either is relied upon, since an inconsistency between a company's own records is difficult to explain afterwards.
